Congratulations to the Miami office who won our Miniature Halloween House Decorating Contest! The designs were judged by our Founder and Chairman Dr. Ben Chen, P.E., BCEE and our President and CEO Peter Moore, P.E., F.ASCE, LEED AP. Participating offices were Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Stuart. The winning team was announced during a pizza luncheon today. On October 26, Jose L. Acosta, P.E., Patrick Kaimrajh, P.E. and Miguel Lockward, E.I. attended a reception for Jean-Pierre Bardet, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Miami. Dr. Bardet joined the University of Miami on August 15, 2015 as the new Dean of the College of Engineering. The event was hosted by The Cuban-American Association of Civil Engineers (CAACE) and the topic of diJose L. Acosta scussion included how the University is addressing the latest demand for civil engineers. As president of the CAACE, Jose L. Acosta served as the master of ceremonies.

CMA Chairman Dr. Ben Chen, P.E., BCEE received the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) 2016 Community Service Award at the ACEC Fall Conference at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs on October 21. The award is presented to outstanding individuals who have been involved in community service; have demonstrated a sustained commitment to their communities; have served to influence decision-making on issues other than professional; and have enhanced the quality of life in their community through their civic involvement. On October 15th, Peter Moore, P.E., F.ASCE, LEED AP served as the keynote speaker for the Junior Achievement of South Florida’s JA Fellows Officer’s Training program. JA Fellows is the pinnacle business and leadership experience for 9th-12th grade students. As a JA Fellow, students develop the skills and knowledge that will set them apart when competing for scholarships, college acceptance, and eventually a spot in the global marketplace. Through this in-depth, leadership and entrepreneurship program, students gain real-world business experience by working in teams of 15-20 to conceptualize, capitalize and manage their own small business. Mentored by top professional leaders, students gain insight around concepts, such as market research, leadership and financial management. The annual event, held at The University of Florida in the Evans Champions Club at the north end zone of the Ben Hill Griffin stadium, provides the opportunity to meet and interview students interested in engineering and for students to interact directly with top industry leaders and learn more about specific career opportunities and internships in civil, coastal and environmental engineering. On September 24, Joel Brownsey, EIT and Dan Dombrowski competed in the 14 Hours of Sebring race on the 3.74 mile, 17 turn Sebring International Raceway in their Porsche 944. This marked the teamﾒs 3rd endurance race and with the support of Chen Moore and Associates, the team enjoyed their best result to date, finishing the race in 35th place out of 93 cars.
