Jose L. Acosta, P.E. Served as Master of Ceremonies at University of Miami Event
On October 26, Jose L. Acosta, P.E., Patrick Kaimrajh, P.E. and Miguel Lockward, E.I. attended a reception for Jean-Pierre Bardet, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Miami. Dr. Bardet joined the University of Miami on August 15, 2015 as the new Dean of the College of Engineering. The event was hosted by The Cuban-American Association of Civil Engineers (CAACE) and the topic of diJose L. Acosta scussion included how the University is addressing the latest demand for civil engineers. As president of the CAACE, Jose L. Acosta served as the master of ceremonies.

CMA Chairman Dr. Ben Chen, P.E., BCEE received the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) 2016 Community Service Award at the ACEC Fall Conference at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs on October 21. Peter Moore Keynote Speaker for Junior Achievement of South Florida’s JA Fellows Officer’s Training Program
On October 15th, Peter Moore, P.E., F.ASCE, LEED AP served as the keynote speaker for the Junior Achievement of South Florida’s JA Fellows Officer’s Training program. JA Fellows is the pinnacle business and leadership experience for 9th-12th grade students. As a JA Fellow, students develop the skills and knowledge that will set them apart when competing for scholarships, college acceptance, and eventually a spot in the global marketplace. Through this in-depth, leadership and entrepreneurship program, students gain real-world business experience by working in teams of 15-20 to conceptualize, capitalize and manage their own small business. Mentored by top professional leaders, students gain insight around concepts, such as market research, leadership and financial management. ASCE Career Fair at the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez

Over 200 civil engineering students attended seeking internships and full time positions. On September 24, Joel Brownsey, EIT and Dan Dombrowski competed in the 14 Hours of Sebring race on the 3.74 mile, 17 turn Sebring International Raceway in their Porsche 944. This marked the teamメs 3rd endurance race and with the support of Chen Moore and Associates, the team enjoyed their best result to date, finishing the race in 35th place out of 93 cars.
