CMA’s Community Service Committee hosted a Kayak Intracoastal Cleanup on Saturday, April 8 at Waterway Adventures in Hollywood. Six bags of trash were collected by our team! Participants for the 90-minute event were: Safiya Brea P.E., LEED AP, Daniel Davila P.E., Jessica Diaz, P.E., Charmaine Emmanuels, P.E., Marcelo Grandi E.I., Ruben Soto, Craig Wallander, E.I., and Stephanie Williams.

CMA Staff Attended LA Bash Conference

The conference program was focused on content developed through peer discussion and research within the planning profession. CMA Staff Attended FES/ACEC Professional Engineer Legislative Days

CMA staff members Jose L. Acosta, P.E., F.ASCE, David Cowan, Jr., P.E., ENV SP, Shahin Hekmat, P.E., F.FES, Patrick Kaimrajh, P.E., Ben Lehr, P.E., DBIA, LEED AP, Peter Moore, P.E., F.ASCE, FACEC, Laura Vogel, Ph.D, P.E., ENV SP and Brent Whitfield, P.E., ENV SP attended the FES/ACEC Professional Engineer Legislative Days in Tallahassee.  The event was held March 20-22 where they met most of the legislators and/or staff that represent Southeast Florida. Peter Moore also testified to the Appropriations Committee for Education on behalf of FES/ACEC-FL. In addition, Brent Whitfield was called out from the floor of the Senate to speak for the Senate Session and his daughter Noelle served as a page.  Florida Engineering Society – Professional engineers designing and shaping Florida’s future. CMA Serves as Concrete Canoe Sponsor at ASCE Student Symposium

CMA attended the ASCE Student Symposium in Jacksonville hosted by the University of North Florida March 23-25. CMA intern Alex Farfan was a conference leader with UNF. Alex Farfan, Dominique Bethel, Sara Hollenbeck, E.I. and Starr Alfonso competed. CMA also served as the concrete canoe sponsor. Peter Moore, P.E., F.ASCE, FACEC, Madeline Batey, E.I. Justin Tagle, P.E., LEED AP; Jose L. Acosta, P.E., F.ASCE and Patrick Kaimrajh, P.E. served as judges for various competitions. Jennifer Smith, P.E. and Derrick Smith, CFM, LEED AP attended the job fair. Universities throughout Florida, Georgia, and Puerto Rico attended the conference.

CMA Director of Planning Nilsa Zacarias, AICP Coordinated and Presented at Planning Event

CMA Director of Planning Nilsa Zacarias, AICP and Board Member of the Palm Beach County Planning Congress coordinated a planning event on Saturday March 18. The event known as ‘Inclusive and Equitable Public Open Spaces: Lessons Learned from Tequesta and Jupiter’ provided an overview of the challenges about planning and designing public open spaces.  The event also included a walking tour through Tequesta parks and the Jupiter Riverwalk. Nilsa Zacarias, AICP and CMA Senior Planner Lance Lilly were among presenters for the event. Presenters were also Stephanie Thoburn, ASLA, AICP, Assistant Director, Planning and Zoning Department, Town of Jupiter; and Marty Schnieder, AICP, Principal Planner, Town of Jupiter.
