CMA Senior Environmental Scientist Brian Voelker, M.S., SPWS, C.A., CLI, was recently elected to the Florida Urban Forestry Council (FUFC) Board of Directors. FUFC’s mission is to promote the value, enhancement, and sound management of urban forests through leadership, collaboration, guidance, and education. FUFC is an organization of organizations rooted in Florida’s urban forest industry. The management of urban, and peri-urban forests is complex and involves many professional disciplines. CMA Director of Land Development Patrick Kaimrajh, P.E. graduated the ULI Southeast Florida/Caribbean Leadership Institute Class of 2022. The Leadership Institute is an immersive and engaging leadership program that educates emerging leaders and prepares them with the tools to solve South Florida’s most critical real estate and land use issues.
As part of the Institute, Patrick and teammates conducted a project evaluating the renovation and reconstruction of the Miami Shores Village Community Center and Recreation Complex, including a preparation of a report and presentation at a Miami Shores Village Council Meeting. Daniel Davila, P.E. Receives ASCE Florida Section and Broward Branch Project of the Year Award!
On August 16, CMA Director of Water and Sewer Daniel Davila, P.E. attended the Ft. Lauderdale Commission meeting celebrating the City of Fort Lauderdale Redundant Forcemain project which was recently named the Broward and Florida ASCE Project of the Year! The meeting was held at Ft. Lauderdale City Hall. Congrats!

CMA Helped Sponsor Broward ASCE Bowl-a-thon
CMA participated in the 34th Annual ASCE Broward Bowl-a-thon on August 6. The event is held annually to raise money for a scholarship provided to Broward County residents who are either a senior in high school or an undergraduate student in college pursuing a degree in civil engineering. The 2022 event, held at SpareZ Bowling in Davie, raised over $2,000. CMA had two teams with Andres Aristizabal, Dominique Bethel, Manny Caamano, Jessica Diaz, P.E., Charmaine Emanuels, E.I., Patrick Kaimrajh, P.E., Nick Karpathy, P.E., Vince Locigno, P.E., Jay McClair, P.E., CFM, LEED AP, Greg Mendez, P.E., and Vithu Suthakaran. National ASCE UESI Pipelines 2022 Conference
CMA attended the National ASCE UESI Pipelines 2022 Conference from July 31-August 3. CMA Director of Water and Sewer Daniel Davila, P.E. presented on our project “Horizontal Directional Drilling of 7 miles of 54″ & 48″ Redundant Sewer Forcemain through Downtown Fort Lauderdale” one of the largest trenchless technologies projects in the State. The event was held at the JW Marriott in Indianapolis and CMA President Peter Moore, P.E., F.ASCE, FACEC and Senior Engineer Nicholas Karpathy, P.E., ENV SP also attended. https://www.pipelinesconference.org/
CMA Staff Attend ACEC Florida Delegation Event
CMA staff Jose L. Acosta, P.E., F.ASCE and Shahin Hekmat, P.E., F. FES attended the ACEC Florida Delegation event in Washington. Members of Florida’s Congressional delegation were invited to meet with ACEC Florida members at the ACEC Townhome for an afternoon reception on July 28 and a breakfast on July 29. Meetings were held with Congressional members Representatives Kathy Castor (D-FL), Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), Carlos A. Giménez (R-FL), Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY), and Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL). This new annual event is an ACEC/PAC donor benefit. Additionally, they attended a fundraiser for Representatives Andrew Garbarino (R-NY) and Peter Meijer (R-MI) and met with members of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee staff Drew Feeley and Mark Ratto who represented the subcommittee on railroad, pipelines, and hazardous materials to discuss available project funding for the Brightline Train and other high-speed rail projects. https://info.fleng.org/
