CMA participated in the local Broward Education Foundation (BEF) school drive. CMA raised $500 which will go towards supplying bags of supplies to the Adopt-a-School program in Broward County. Special thank you to the CMA Community Service Committee for coordinating the drive!
ASCE Florida Section 2023 Annual Conference
CMA attended the ASCE Florida Section 2023 Annual Conference July 13-14 at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes in Orlando. CMA intern Starr Alfonso received a scholarship and Associate Engineer Madeline Batey, E.I. received the young engineer of the year award. Associate Engineer Charmaine Emanuels, E.I. and Project Engineer Justin Tagle, P.E., LEED AP presented the DEI session for the ASCE Students and Orlando Office Leader Rob Best, Jr., P.E. was inducted the President Elect of the Florida Section of ASCE.
CMA Annual Leadership Retreat
CMA held their annual leadership retreat on July 12 at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes. CMA President Peter Moore, P.E., F.ASCE, FACEC led the event which had various presentations ranging from CMA’s core values to best management strategies. Office leaders and market directors also prepared three-minute videos with ideas and concepts that can help CMA grow to reach our goals for 2025.
CMA Engineer Alexander Farfan Named President of JEST
CMA Engineer Alexander Farfan recently became President of Jacksonville Engineering Societies Together (JEST). They host monthly socials for 7 professional branches of local engineering societies such as ASCE, ITE, FES, ASHE, and more. This past week, JEST held their annual Billiards tournament, and had an amazing turn out. The winners received gift cards, and everyone had a great time.
CMA Women’s Alliance
CMA held their 4th session of the Women’s Alliance on June 29. The event, held at Tigertail Lake Recreational Center in Dania Beach presented a session discussing pertinent topics, as well as teambuilding and networking activities.

CMA Staff Volunteered for Feeding South Florida Program
The CMA Community Service Committee participated in the Feeding South Florida – Community Kitchen Program in Boynton on June 23 from 8:30 am to 11:30 am. Staff members Dante DiTommaso, E.I. Craig Wallander, E.I., Dominique Bethel, Vithu Suthakaran, Nick Musick, E.I., Alessandro Bologna, E.I., Jessica Diaz, P.E., Brandon Sullivan, E.I. and Charmaine Emanuels, P.E. helped by cutting and prepping onions, red peppers and celery for meals to be distributed in the South Florida area.
CMA Staff Attended Transportation & Development Institute’s 5th Annual Networking Event
Senior Engineer Yulet Miguel, P.E. and CMA intern Starr Alfonso attended the Transportation & Development Institute’s 5th Annual Networking Event at the Double Tree Hotel in downtown Miami on June 23. The Chief Planning Officer for the Department of Transportation and Public Works for Miami-Dade County, Lisa Colmenares, presented and spoke about the County’s leadership, structure, projects and processes. Attendees received one PDH credit, while networking and enjoying refreshments on the patio.

CMA Senior Engineer Christopher W. Taylor, P.E.’s collaboration on Project No. 44258115201, SR 93/I-75, from N. SR 47 to S. US 90, Milling & Resurfacing in Columbia County, District 2, will receive a Best in Construction Award by the Florida Transportation Builder’s Association in the Interstate Award category.
