CMA Staff Attended Mega Viernes Civil 2023 Infrastructure Conference

CMA staff members Jose L. Acosta, P.E., F.ASCE and David Castro, P.E. attended the Mega Viernes Civil 2023 Infrastructure Conference at the Convention Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico on April 28. During this event, conferences, workshops and exhibitions were held on topics related to the construction, design and maintenance of infrastructures and buildings. Conferences for this year’s event revolved around the topic of mitigation and resilience in rebuilding the island’s infrastructure after the impact of recent natural disasters. In addition, Mega Civil Friday offered the opportunity to network with colleagues and industry leaders, and to participate in discussions about the challenges, current and future opportunities in the civil engineering profession. CMA received a Special Recognition for the Bay of Pigs Project

CMA received a Special Recognition for the Bay of Pigs Project

Earlier this month, CMA received a Special Recognition from the District 4 Commissioner’s office at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Bay of Pigs Project. CMA provided professional engineering and landscape architecture services for the design, permitting and construction services for site improvements for this project. This City of Miami Office of Capital Improvements project included the expansion of the existing playground, new pedestrian walking paths, accessible fitness equipment, seating areas, site lighting, and a monument plaza. CMA’s civil engineering and landscape architecture team partnered with surveying, structural engineering, and electrical engineering subconsultants to design this project in the heart of the Flagami neighborhood.

CMA Sr. Engineer Stephanie Long, PhD, P.E. presented at the Greater Everglades Ecosystem Restoration Conference

CMA Senior Engineer Stephanie Long, PhD, P.E. presented at the Greater Everglades Ecosystem Restoration (GEER) Conference April 17-20 at the Marriott Coral Springs. The presentation included the Flood Protection Level of Service (FPLOS) study for a 200 square mile area in Miami-Dade County on behalf of the SFWMD.  Other CMA staff who worked on the project and were present included Laura Vogel, PhD, P.E., ENV SP, Justin Tagle, P.E., LEED AP and Brent Whitfield, P.E., ENV SP. A special thank you also to the SFWMD team: Ana Maran, PhD, P.E. for moderating the event and to Akin Owosina, Hongying Zhao, and Ruben Arteaga for their leadership on the FPLOS program. CMA Staff Attended Groundbreaking for Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta Branch in Doral

On Monday 4/24, CMA attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Improvements project for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta branch in Doral, FL. CMA provided civil engineering and landscape architecture services for a new building on the east side of the property, fire line services, an enlarged concrete maintenance yard/area, new vehicular movements areas, new landscaping, and irrigation and adjustments to associated infrastructure to accommodate the new building.

CMA Staff Attended Central Florida Field Trip

On Friday, April 14th, CMA staff members Madeline Batey, E.I. and Rob Best, P.E. attended the ASCE East Central Branch’s Younger Member Forum (YMF) Central Florida Field Trip, which was a tour of the Brightline’s Vehicle Maintenance Facility (VMF) in Orlando. As the current East Central YMF President, Maddie helped plan the event.
