CMA staff attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Oakland Park Phase I of City Park on October 21.  CMA was the prime consultant for civil engineering and landscape architecture and had PGAL, MUEngineering, and Hammond and Associates on the team for architecture, structural engineering, and MEP engineering. The $5.9 million project, constructed by Kaufman Lynn, includes pickleball courts, basketball courts, an accessible playground, a renovated concession stand building, family restroom building, and a splash pad. City Park is the first project in the Comprehensive Facilities Plan for Oakland Park’s Second Century.

CMA participated in the BKS Partners Corporate Run at Riverfront Plaza – Old Jacksonville Landing Site on October 20! CMA staff members Jose L. Acosta, P.E., F.ASCE, Shahin Hekmat, P.E., Patrick Kaimrajh, P.E. and Laura Vogel, Ph.D, P.E., ENV SP, attended the CAACE Gala on October 22. Jose was awarded the Plinio Villanueva Award!  Jose previously received this award in 2017. The Plinio Villanueva Award is given to a member of CAACE who has made a commitment, through their actions and efforts, to advance the Civil Engineering Profession and the organization. https://c-aace.org/

On behalf of CMA, our President Peter Moore, P.E., F.ASCE, FACEC accepted the Workforce Development Award from the Coral Springs Coconut Creek Regional Chamber of Commerce at their annual gala last night. The event was held at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Coral Springs and proceeds will benefit their Education Foundation. CMA attended the Broward Branch ASCE Installation and Awards Banquet Thursday, October 13th. CMA was a platinum sponsor for the event, held at the Sonesta Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel. Congratulations to our Project Engineer Jessica Diaz, P.E. who was installed as President and our Associate Engineer Charmaine Emanuels, E.I. who was installed as President-Elect!  All Broward Branch Past Presidents were acknowledged, including our Executive Vice President Jose L. CMA staff members Jose L. Acosta, P.E., F.ASCE and Patrick Kaimrajh, P.E. attended the Miami-Dade County League of Cities (MDCLC) 10th Annual US Conference of Mayors event today at the Hilton Miami Downtown. CMA was an exhibitor. Through this conference, the MDCLC facilitated a venue for Cities as well as its associate members to find a distinctive forum where views were shared. Former MDCLC President/City of Miami Mayor and Current President of the US Conference of Mayors Francis Suarez was the luncheon keynote speaker and is pictured being interviewed. In addition, Miami Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava gave an opening speech. CMA hosted a free-for-all autumn themed painting session on October 11 in the Fort Lauderdale Office. The event featured guided tutorials for inspiration with the masterpieces. The results were nothing less than Bob Ross worthy!
