CMA Staff Recognized at ASCE‐FL Conference
Congratulations to our CMA staff who were recognized at the ASCE Florida Section Annual Conference held July 15-16 at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes in Orlando! The ASCE Miami Branch was awarded the Branch of the Year award and CMA staff who represent the branch include Patrick Kaimrajh, P.E., past president, Nicholas Karpathy, P.E., Gregory Mendez, P.E. and Yulet Miguel, P.E. In addition, Patrick Kaimrajh, P.E., was installed as Treasurer statewide for the Florida section. Daniel Davila, P.E., presented on the City of Fort Lauderdale Redundant Forcemain project that was awarded the Project of the Year award. CMA served as the prime consultant for civil engineering and Daniel Davila, P.E. served as project manager. Furthermore, a big shout out to Robert Best, P.E. who served as conference chair for the entire event and Madeline Batey, E.I. who assisted him in the planning efforts. CMA served as a title sponsor for the event.
CMA & City of West Palm Beach Project Featured on the News
CMA’s Currie Park project was featured on CBS12 news! We are the prime consultant for landscape architecture and planning services leading the redevelopment of the $33 million project for the City of West Palm Beach. The project aims to enhance a public asset by increasing the health, welfare and economic vitality of the community. The 13.6-acre waterfront park currently consists of public open space including boat ramps with trailer parking, tennis courts, fishing pier, playground, a landmark memorial to commemorate the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., covered pavilions and restroom facilities. CMA Staff Volunteers in Waterway Cleanup
On Saturday, June 25, CMA participated in a waterway cleanup at Waterway Adventures in Hollywood. Jessica Diaz, P.E., Dante DiTommaso, E.I., Charmaine Emanuels, E.I., Yulet Miguel, P.E., Ruben Soto, Brian Voelker, M.S., SPWS, C.A., CLI, and Craig Wallander, E.I., kayaked through the intracoastal and through mangroves to clean up any plastic, styrofoam, and other items harmful to the marine wildlife. In the end, the volunteers were able to fill 5 bags full of recovered trash!
CMA Attended the Southeastern Electric Exchange Annual Conference and Trade Show
CMA staff members Freeman Bass, P.E., Thomas Gardner, P.E., Chris Gearhart, P.E. and William Wilson, P.E., attended the 2022 Southeastern Electric Exchange Annual Conference and Trade Show from June 29 – July 1, 2022 at the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street. CMA Recognized at ACEC Annual Convention and Legislative Summit
From May 22-25, 2022, Peter Moore, P.E., F.ASCE, FACEC, Jose L. Acosta, P.E., F.ASCE; Shahin Hekmat, P.E.; and Daniel Davila, P.E. attended the 2022 ACEC Annual Convention and Legislative Summit at the Grand Hyatt Washington in Washington DC. The event included education, networking, and meeting with vendor partners.
CMA also received a national recognition award for the City of Fort Lauderdale Emergency Bypass 48” Forcemain project. The fast-tracked emergency, design-build project was led by Murphy Pipeline Contractors and David Mancini and Sons with CMA and A&P Engineers as lead consultants and Hazen and Sawyer as the owner’s representative. CMA was responsible for the design, permitting, and construction observation of the replacement of the City’s north transmission line. Congratulations!
Gregory Mendez, P.E. Completes Leadership Miami Community Project
CMA Principal Engineer- Miami Office Leader Gregory Mendez, P.E. recently completed his Team’s Leadership Miami® (LM) class community project. LM offers participants the opportunity to share an intensive learning experience that focuses on community issues and leadership skills through a planned process of lectures, seminars, small group discussions, and leadership curriculum developed in partnership with local universities. Greg was integral in the fundraising for and renovation of a shared play space for His House Foster Care facility in Miami-Gardens. The renovations included a new play set, new asphalt for the bicycle loop, a new outdoor patio area with new picnic tables and bistro lighting, a new sandbox, a new basketball court, a 14’ outdoor movie screen and projector, play equipment, and much more. This new play area will provide hundreds of neglected, abandoned, and abused children an opportunity to recreate and experience happiness, some for the first time in their young lives.
