The keynote speaker was Florida Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary for Engineering & Operations Courtney Drummond. CMA served as a sustaining sponsor.

CMA Sr. Engineer Jennifer Smith, P.E. attended the Explore FAU event in Boca Raton on October 19. The event hosted future FAU students the opportunity to learn about the Engineering and Computer Science Programs offered by the University. Jennifer spoke to the students about her experience at FAU and accomplishments since she graduated.

ASCE 2020 President Kancheepuram N. Gunalan “Guna”,  PH.D., P.E., D.GE, F.ASCE presented on “The Future of Engineering.”

Daniel Davila, P.E., Suzanne Dombrowski, P.E., ENV SP, Dr. Ben Chen, BCEE and Carlos Tijerino attended the FSAWWA Region VI & FWEA SE Chapter Second Annual Utilities CIP Night in Deerfield Beach on October 10. A panel of local city officials highlighted their proposed capital improvement plans for the upcoming year.  

The CMA WPB office prepared and served dinner at Quantum House. QH is a caring and supportive home for families whose children are receiving treatment in Palm Beach County for serious medical conditions. They opened their doors in May 2001 to families and now have 30 rooms, serving more than 1,000 family members every year. QH is still the only hospital hospitality house serving children and their families this way between Fort Lauderdale and Orlando. CMA Vice President Jose L. Acosta, P.E., F.ASCE attended the 2019 Zweig Group Hot Firm + A/E Industry Awards Conference in Las Vegas October 4-6. The event is the industry’s largest and most comprehensive business conference for leaders and aspiring leaders of AEC firms in the U.S. Attendees networked, gained knowledge, and celebrated with the top firms in the industry. The conference agenda included topics on technology, leadership challenges, business planning, marketing methods, recruiting and retention, and growth strategies. Jose also accepted CMA’s awards: CMA placed #38 in the Multi-Discipline category in the Zweig White Best Firms to Work For awards; #33 in the Civil Engineering category in the Zweig White Best Firms to Work For awards; #70 on the Hot Firms list, an annual ranking of the 100 fastest-growing firms in the architecture, engineering, planning, and environmental consulting industry, up from #88 in 2018.
