CMA sponsored a young family of four living in Palm Beach County, as part of the Adopt-A-Family program. Adopt-A-Family’s mission is to strengthen families with children in their efforts to achieve stability and self-sufficiency by providing access to all-encompassing services. Since 1983, Adopt-A-Family has grown into the largest service provider for homeless families in Palm Beach County — providing access to services for more than 2,000 families with children per year.

Acosta, P.E., F.ASCE attended the Joint Professional Societies Annual Legislative Breakfast in Palm Beach Gardens on November 22. CMA was a premium sponsor. CMA Senior Engineers Gregory Mendez, P.E. and Patrick Kaimrajh, P.E. staffed a table at the FIU ASCE Industry Fair on Thursday, November 21 at the FIU College of Engineering & Computing in Miami.  The event enabled FIU students to meet representatives from local engineering firms and expose themselves to new opportunities.

On Thursday, November 21, CMA staff attended the ASCE Miami-Dade Branch Younger Member’s 2nd Annual Raise the Bar event at Batch Gastropub in Brickell. Carlos Tijerino, Sathvika Ramaji, E.I., Teresa Lewis, E.I., Patrick Kaimrajh, P.E., Jose Acosta, P.E., F.ASCE, Greg Mendez, P.E., and Nick Karpathy, E.I. spent the evening networking with other local civil engineering professionals. There were also guest speakers Rick Crooks (CEO of EAC Consulting) and Marisela Aranguiz, P.E. (Assistant Director of Capital Programs at WASD) who shared life lessons and their tips for success in the civil engineering industry.

CMA Associate Engineer Carlos Tijerino attended the ASCE FIU Student Chapter Board and Member Induction ceremony on Friday, November 1. The event was held at the FIU Engineering Center and Carlos was presented with a certificate of appreciation for his dedicated efforts and support of the ASCE Student Chapter. Congratulations to the Miami office who won our Halloween Conference Room Decorating Contest on Thursday!  The designs were judged by our office managers. Participating offices were Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.  The winning team was announced through our Hello video conference system during a pizza party luncheon.  The winning participants received a $150 gift card to share: Andrés Aristizábal, Michael Buick, P.E., Joseph Hall, Patrick Kaimrajh, P.E., Carlos Morales, Pamela Muñoz, Sathvika Ramaji, E.I. and Leticia Zavatsky.

CMA staff participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events on October 26 in Fort Lauderdale at Huizenga Plaza and Miami at Marlins Park.  Participants were: Safiya Brea, P.E., LEED AP; Jessica Diaz, E.I.; David Castro, P.E. and his wife Betsaira Sanabria; Johanna Zona and her husband Kevin; Ruben Soto; Carlos Tijerino, Teresa Lewis, E.I.; Patrick Kaimrajh, P.E.; and Carlos Morales.  Our team raised $526 towards breast cancer research. Thank you to everyone who joined us in the fight against breast cancer! 

CMA representatives Joel Brownsey, P.E., Dr. Ben Chen, P.E., BCEE, Suzanne Dombrowski, P.E., ENV SP, Paula Fonseca, P.E. and Jennifer Smith, P.E. attended FAU’s Infrastructure night on October 23.  The evening included networking with engineers, construction professionals, faculty, alumni and students within the building and design industry. The keynote speaker was Florida Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary for Engineering & Operations Courtney Drummond. CMA served as a sustaining sponsor.

CMA Sr. Engineer Jennifer Smith, P.E. attended the Explore FAU event in Boca Raton on October 19. The event hosted future FAU students the opportunity to learn about the Engineering and Computer Science Programs offered by the University. Jennifer spoke to the students about her experience at FAU and accomplishments since she graduated.
