CMA Placed 5th in the Wilton Manors 26th Annual Island City Canoe Race

Chen Moore team members Joel Brownsey (co-captain), Teresa Lewis (co-captain), Jennifer Smith, Dan Dombrowski, Derrick Smith, Patrick Kaimrajh, Carlos Tijerino, Natalie Mecklenburg, Jason McClair and Charmaine Emanuels  participated in the 28th Annual Island City Canoe Race in Wilton Manors on May 18. Teams competed in a 7-mile relay race around the Island City with exchange points throughout the Middle River. The race started at Colohatchee Boat Ramp and finished at Richardson Historic Park where participants were greeted with lunch and a trophy ceremony. CMA President and CEO Peter Moore Participated in SEFLUC Panel

CMA President and CEO Peter Moore, P.E., F.ASCE, ENV SP, LEED AP spoke on a panel at the Southeast Florida Utility Council (SEFLUC) meeting on Monday in Boca Raton. The panel spoke on behalf of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Florida. They discussed perspectives from consultants, service providers and client/service buyers on “Contracts – Springing Forward: Everyone in the Risk Pool.”

Annual CMA Company Picnic ~ Star Wars Theme

CMA staff celebrated our annual picnic on Saturday, May 4 at Spanish River Park in Boca Raton.  In honor of Star Wars Day, our theme was ‘May The Fourth Be With You.’ Festivities included a BBQ lunch, volleyball and a bounce house for children. Congratulations to Eric Harrison, RLA who won the t-shirt design contest! Everyone received a t-shirt. Approximately 75 people enjoyed the day including employees, friends and families. Special thanks to the social activities committee for planning the event!

CMA Engineering Intern Graduates With Award

Congratulations to our Engineering Intern Charmaine Emanuels who was presented with the Outstanding Graduate Award in Civil Engineering during the FIU graduation ceremony May 1. The award recognizes academic achievement and exemplary service to the department, FIU and the community.  Charmaine graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the FIU College of Engineering and Computing.

CMA Supports FES Through Golf Sponsorships

CMA staff participated in three FES golf tournament fundraisers during the month of May as foursome sponsors. The Broward chapter event was held on May 10 at Palm Aire Country Club in Pompano Beach, the Palm Beach chapter event was held on May 17 at the Fazio Course in Palm Beach Gardens and the Miami chapter event was held on May 24 at the Miccosukee Golf and Country Club in Kendale Lakes that raised an estimated $10,000 for scholarships.

Two CMA Staff Members Graduate With Masters Degrees

Congratulations to our Associate Engineer Nicholas (Nick) Karpathy, ENV SP and our Associate Landscape Designer Tyler Reed who both recently graduated with Masters degrees. Nick (pictured to the left) graduated on May 9 with his Masters in Civil Engineering from the University of Miami and on May 5 Tyler graduated with his Masters in Community and Economic Development from Pennsylvania State University.

CMA staff members, family and friends, participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life at Cooper City High School on Saturday, April 27. To date, our team has raised nearly $3,000 for cancer patient programs and groundbreaking research and we are still counting!
