Father’s Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society. In Catholic Europe, it has been celebrated on March 19 (St. Joseph’s Day) since the Middle Ages. This celebration was brought by the Spanish and Portuguese to Latin America, where March 19 is often still used for it, though many countries in Europe and the Americas have adopted the U.S. date, which is the third Sunday of June (falling on June 17 in 2018). CMA Associate Engineer Mike Wood presented on STEM at Meadow Park Elementary School in West Palm Beach. He presented in 6 classes; two for 5th grade, two for 4th grade, and two for 3rd grade.  STEM is an educational program developed to prepare primary and secondary students for college and graduate study in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

CMA staff collected a total of 352 pounds of clothing and goods for a company-wide clothing drive. The donations were delivered to Lotus House and HOPE South Florida, organizations dedicated to providing support to homeless individuals and families. Chen Moore and Associates staff attended the United Way’s Simply the Best Awards Ceremony at the Kravis Center Cohen Pavilion in West Palm Beach on May 23.  The event was held to honor everyone that helped the United Way with their mission in 2017-18. CMA participated in the 27th Annual City Island Canoe Race in Wilton Manors on May 19. Teams competed in a 7-mile relay race around the Island City with exchange points throughout the Middle River. Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May. It complements similar celebrations honoring family members, such as Father’s Day, Siblings Day, and Grandparents Day. In the United States, celebration of Mother’s Day began in the early 20th century.
