Happy New Year From CMA!
CMA Annual Holiday Party
The CMA holiday party was held December 18 at Lake Pavilion in West Palm Beach. The event was a great opportunity for our employees to socialize and commemorate a successful 2015. The evening included a welcome speech from our President Peter Moore, P.E., F.ASCE, LEEDᆴ AP, a year-in-review slide show, reliving both firm and employee milestones throughout 2015 and a photo booth to commemorate the evening.
Thank you to our vendors: Orange Blossoms Florals and Event Styling (Angela Wood and wife of our staff member Mike Wood) for the flower arrangements; Christina Daly (wife of our staff member Bill Daly) for the cupcake desserts and Matthew Matin (husband of our staff member Sarah Matin) for his additional photography services. And finally, thank you to the Social Activities Committee, for their efforts in coordinating the annual event (Marcus Austin, Safiya Brea, Stephanie Bou-Ghannam, Suzie Dombrowski, Karen Rachles and Melvia Rogers)!
Orange Bowl Field at Harris Field Park Groundbreaking Ceremony
CMA Vice President Jose L. Acosta, P.E. attended the ground breaking ceremony for the Orange Bowl Field at Harris Field Park in Homestead on December 15. Attendees enjoyed a presentation of local football teams, remarks from community leaders and catered refreshments. Among those at the groundbreaking was recently retired Super Bowl-winning safety and former University of Miami All-American Antrel Rolle, who grew up playing football in Homestead. CMA provided civil engineering services as a subconsultant to The Orange Bowl Committee.
The new Orange Bowl Field at Harris Field Park will be upgraded to a state-of-the-art facility with new amenities for both fans and players. The facility will include new artificial turf, scoreboard, fencing, goal posts and sound system. Additional facility upgrades will include renovated locker rooms, restrooms, press box and concession stand. Orange Bowl Field and the surrounding area will also receive new concrete walkways, windscreens and upgraded landscaping. The improvements will allow for more community use of Harris Field Park as well as serve eight local high schools. The field upgrades will be completed by the beginning of the 2017 high school football season.
In addition, CMA is a proud supporter of the 2016 MetroPCS Orange Bowl Big Buddy program and made a donation to send 50 kids to the 23nd Annual MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic on December 17 at the BB&T Center. The charitable contribution is important to CMA as the firm designed the Orange Bowl Field at Carter Park and the Orange Bowl Field at Ives Estate Park in addition to Harris Field Park.
The Orange Bowl Committee was created in 1935 with the mission of generating tourism for South Florida through an annual football game and supporting events. The non-profit, sports organization that promotes and serves the South Florida community has grown to 360 members since its inception. It has expanded beyond Greater Miami to become a cornerstone of the entire South Florida area. For more information, please visit www.orangebowl.org

CMA Participated in the United Way Day of Caring Event and Food Donation Drive
On December 6 Chen Moore and Associates staff helped those in need this holiday season by participating in the United Way Day of Caring event held at the BB&T Center in Sunrise. More than 700 volunteers prepared 300,000 food packages and boxed meals that were delivered to 25 local food banks and feeding pantries through United Way’s Project Lifeline program. These well-balanced meals will feed the more than 260,000 Broward residents. Also being distributed through Project Lifeline are 200 painted ceramic pots which were filled with herb packets so families can grow their own spices. CMA volunteers pictured left to right: Jessica Diaz, E.I., Safiya Brea, P.E., LEED AP, Kathy Horrigan, Peter Moore, P.E., F.ASCE, LEED AP, Carlos Tijerino and Derrick Smith, CFM, LEED AP.
