Happy Earth Day From CMA!
CMA staff Teresa Chapman, Paula Fonseca and Brent Whitfield participated in the モFeels Like Homeヤ initiative with Adopt-A-Family. Adopt-A-Family is a non-profit that provides housing to homeless families. They also provide after-school programs and other services to the children housed in their facilities. CMA decorated one of the units to accommodate a young mother and her three-year-old daughter. Next week, they will be moving into an apartment provided by Adopt-A-Family to re-start their lives. CMAメs Miami staff attended the AWWA Region VII モBest of the Bestヤ Drinking Water Taste Test at Rusty Pelican Restaurant in Key Biscayne last week. The event highlights each utilities success in producing safe drinking water for its customers.
CMA Associate Engineer Teresa Chapman will be one of the guest panelists for the Transforming Technology in Your Organization Panel at the 2017 Esri Public Sector GIS Conference at the Palm Beach Convention Center on April 11th. Teresa was invited to attend by Esri staff and will represent the Esri Young Professional Network. The panel will discuss how the ArcGIS Platform has and can be used to reach your organizational goals. Teresa and other panelists will discuss their experiences implementing the ArcGIS platform to help harness the maximum potential of their organizations. CMA President Peter Moore, P.E., LEED AP, F.ASCE, spoke with over 60 students from the App-titude Internship program for nearly two hours at the Keller Science Theater at the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Discovery and Science. The App-titude Internship is a one of a kind internship through the Museumメs STEM Center for Education and Career Development. The APP-titude program advances the skills of academically minded students in grades 11 and 12 throughout Broward County. The multi-year project provides students with the opportunity to earn college credits from Florida Atlantic University and volunteer hours while advancing their knowledge in STEM education and careers and learning imperative applied skills such as team work, communication and decision-making. Many of these students will go on to college to major in computer science and engineering.
Thanks to everyone who participated and supported Team CMA in the Annual Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run on April 6 in Fort Lauderdale! CMA team members included Joel Brownsey, Stefan Bortak, Miguel Lockward, Karen Rachles, Patrick Kaimrajh, Carlos Tijerino, Natalie Mecklenburg, Mike Wood, Teresa Lewis, Jessica Diaz, Ben, Susan and Melinda Chen, Sathvika Ramaji, Scarlet Del Valle and Kathy Horrigan. Danny Davila and Ricardo Jimenez also supported the team. Our t-shirt designed by Stefan included our Earth Day CMA logo. Congratulations to Miguel for finishing the fastest of our team; he now holds that record for three years in a row!

The event honors the accomplishments and contributions of engineers in public and private practice in Palm Beach County. Brent was honored as ASCEメs Palm Beach Branch Past President.
