CMA staff celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday with a potluck in our Fort Lauderdale office that included a toast to our 30 year Chenniversary. We wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving holiday!

Celebrating our 30th anniversary today as a civil engineering and landscape architecture firm. Happy Chenniversary and a special thank you to Dr. Ben Chen, P.E., BCEE, our Chairman and Founder and our entire staff for making this happen!

CMA employees Jose L. Acosta, P.E., Ricardo Jimenez, Patrick Kaimrajh, P.E., Greg Mendez, P.E., Carlos Morales and Sathvika Ramaji, E.I., attended the Homecoming celebration at the University of Miamiﾒs annual breakfast for the College of Engineering on November 4. Guests of CMA were Juan Fuentes, P.E., LEED AP from United Engineering and David Kaimrajh.

Jose L. Acosta, P.E., president of the Cuban American Association of Civil Engineers attended a transportation panel event hosted by the organization on November 3. The event featured a panel discussion with Alice Bravo (Director Miami-Dade Transit and Public Works); Javier Rodriguez (Director Miami-Dade Expressway Authority); and Jim Wolf (Secretary FDOT District VI). There were a total of 90 attendees. Chen Moore and Associate was a sponsor for this event.

Congratulations to the Miami office who won our Miniature Halloween House Decorating Contest! The designs were judged by our Founder and Chairman Dr. Ben Chen, P.E., BCEE and our President and CEO Peter Moore, P.E., F.ASCE, LEED AP. Participating offices were Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Stuart. The winning team was announced during a pizza luncheon today. Each winning participant received a $10 gift card: Andr�s Aristiz�bal, Ricardo Jimenez, Patrick Kaimrajh, Miguel Lockward, Jose McCray, Carlos Morales and Pamela Mu�oz.

On October 26, Jose L. Acosta, P.E., Patrick Kaimrajh, P.E. and Miguel Lockward, E.I. attended a reception for Jean-Pierre Bardet, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Miami. Dr. Bardet joined the University of Miami on August 15, 2015 as the new Dean of the College of Engineering. The event was hosted by The Cuban-American Association of Civil Engineers (CAACE) and the topic of diJose L. Acosta scussion included how the University is addressing the latest demand for civil engineers. As president of the CAACE, Jose L. Acosta served as the master of ceremonies.

CMA Chairman Dr. Ben Chen, P.E., BCEE received the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) 2016 Community Service Award at the ACEC Fall Conference at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs on October 21. The award is presented to outstanding individuals who have been involved in community service; have demonstrated a sustained commitment to their communities; have served to influence decision-making on issues other than professional; and have enhanced the quality of life in their community through their civic involvement. On October 15th, Peter Moore, P.E., F.ASCE, LEED AP served as the keynote speaker for the Junior Achievement of South Florida’s JA Fellows Officer’s Training program. JA Fellows is the pinnacle business and leadership experience for 9th-12th grade students. As a JA Fellow, students develop the skills and knowledge that will set them apart when competing for scholarships, college acceptance, and eventually a spot in the global marketplace. Through this in-depth, leadership and entrepreneurship program, students gain real-world business experience by working in teams of 15-20 to conceptualize, capitalize and manage their own small business. Mentored by top professional leaders, students gain insight around concepts, such as market research, leadership and financial management.
