Jennifer Smith P.E. Named President of ASCE Broward County Branch
Congratulations to Jennifer Smith, P.E., Assistant Project Manager (third from right), who was installed as President of the ASCE Broward County Branch on September 10 at the officer installation and awards banquet. The meeting, held at Plantation Preserve Golf Course and Country Club this year, is an annual event where the new ASCE Broward Branch Officers are inducted as well as certain ASCE members within Broward County are recognized for excellence in engineering through a variety of awards. The keynote speaker was Broward County Vice Mayor Tim Ryan. President Peter Moore, P.E., LEED AP and Vice President Jose Acosta, P.E. of CMA both previously held the position of President of the ASCE Broward County Branch. The ASCE Broward County Branch is a subsidiary of the Florida Section, Region 5 of the American Society of Civil Engineers. President and CEO of Chen Moore and Associates Celebrates 15 Years of Service
Congratulations to our President and CEO Peter Moore, P.E., LEED AP who recently celebrated 15 years of service. Our 7 offices celebrated with breakfast and a special tribute from our Chairman and Founder Dr. Ben Chen, P.E., BCEE. Office managers also contributed with their own tributes through video conferencing. Peter received a plaque and travel coffee mug for his years of service.
CMA Staff Recognized at ASCE Miami Awards and Board Installation Dinner
Patrick Kaimrajh, EI, associate engineer, was installed as Vice President and Amanda Smith, associate engineer, was installed as Younger Members Group Chair.
Each year the Miami-Dade Branch of ASCE recognizes excellence in civil engineering in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties by presenting awards and scholarships at this event. This year’s dinner was held on August 27 at the Rusty Pelican in Key Biscayne.
The Miami-Dade Branch is a subsidiary of the Florida Section, Region 5 of the American Society of Civil Engineers. With more than 700 members, the organization participates in community service and raises funds to provide local university students with scholarships and more. Regular meetings are held where members can network with other members and stay up to date on the latest engineering news and trends. 26th Annual ASCE Broward Bowl-a-Thon
The 26th Annual ASCE Broward Branch Bowl-A-Thon was held on Saturday, August 23 in Tamarac at Sawgrass Lanes. Chen Moore and Associate team members included Joel Brownsey, Patrick Kaimrajh, EI, Jason McClair, P.E., CFM, LEED AP, Peter Moore, P.E., LEED AP, Todd Nochomson, Derrick Smith, CFM, LEED AP and Jennifer Smith, P.E. The event is held on an annual basis to raise money for a scholarship provided to a Broward County resident pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. Annual Company Picnic Held at Oleta River State Park
The Chen Moore and Associates Annual Picnic was held Saturday, August 16 at Oleta River State Park in North Miami. Festivities included a barbeque lunch, chaos bingo, a scavenger hunt and a t-shirt design contest. Prizes were awarded to the winning participants. Congratulations to Stefan Bortak, CID, who won the t-shirt design contest. Each employee received a t-shirt. Approximately 50 people enjoyed the day including employees, friends, families and pets.
Jose L. Acosta P.E. Named President-Elect at ASCE Conference
Congratulations to Jose L. Acosta, P.E., Vice President of Chen Moore and Associates, who was named President-Elect of the ASCE Florida Section at the July 2014 annual meeting/conference held in Miami Beach. The meeting included the Lt. Governor for the state of Florida (Lt. Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera) and the President-Elect nationally for ASCE (Dr. Bob Stevens, P.E.). In addition, Peter Moore, P.E., LEED AP, President of CMA led one of the panel discussions during the conference. (Effects of Panama Canal Expansion to Florida).
